Set up Sales and POS

Complete this setup before recording the first transaction.

Select the business

Sign in, select the business you want to operate, and verify its name in the dashboard header. Sales, stores, products, customers, payment methods, and reports are separated by business.

Set the currency

1. Open Settings.
2. Open Business Settings.
3. Select the business currency.
4. Save the changes.

The selected currency appears on product prices, sale totals, payments, receipts, and reports. Supported currencies currently include USD, XAF, NGN, and KES.

:::warning Currency changes Changing the currency changes the label used by the interface. It does not convert historical monetary values. :::

Create a store

1. Open Settings.
2. Select Stores.
3. Create the store and enter its required details.
4. Save it.

Every sale belongs to a store. The store determines product availability, where stock is deducted, what appears on the receipt, and which store reports are updated.

Configure payment methods

1. Open Settings.
2. Select Payment Methods.
3. Create or enable the methods the business accepts.
4. Optionally select a default method.
5. Save the changes.

Examples include cash, card, mobile money, and bank transfer. If checkout shows No methods available, an administrator must configure a method.

Create categories and products

Open Items > Categories and create categories for the correct store. Then use Items > Add Product to enter:

• Name, SKU, description, barcode, category, and image
• Purchase or cost price, selling price, and applicable tax
• Inventory tracking, opening stock, reorder level, and reorder quantity
• Packaging units
• Promotions or approved minimum prices
• Active status

Accurate cost prices are required for historical profit and margin reporting.

Configure selling units

MyStockPulse supports Piece, Packet, Box, and Carton. For each unit larger than a piece, define its piece quantity and prices.

Selling two cartons in this example deducts:

2 cartons × 24 pieces = 48 pieces

Do not select a larger unit during a sale unless it is configured for the product.
